Every year, 8–10 short films by young people are produced at Kinomaja Filmikool. These films grow out of their own ideas and hard work, with the support of professional filmmakers.
For us, film is not only a creative form of expression. Filmmaking also teaches young people responsibility, teamwork, critical thinking, self-expression, time management and how to work within a budget.
Each film is a real production process: developing an idea, writing a script, working as a team, organising the shoot, solving problems and bringing the film through to completion.
The minimum production budget for one youth short film is €1,000. This directly covers the practical costs needed to make the film: locations, transport, props, artistic solutions, catering during shooting days and other essential production expenses.
